History and Remodel
Bootleggers Supper Club brought plenty of history on its own. Originally named Phil’s in the 1920’s, it was allegedly founded by a notorious Chicago Bootlegger as a respite in the Northwoods. The new remake of the experience brings together elements of the era to create what would have been – and is today - a high end, elegantly beautiful vantage point from which to overlook Lake Nokomis and what truly is a quintessential American experience.
The Brunswick back bar, originally manufactured in Chicago in 1883, sits center stage under the framing of hand-hewn timbers and reclaimed barnwood - paying respect to the building practice of the time. Either side of the bar provide newer elegance of the day with herring bone stained wood ceilings over rustic barn wood floors that might have been found in Phil’s era.
The entire bar and lounge overlook Lake Nokomis - with glass walls on two sides, one with an outdoor fire pit positioned such that patrons of the bar can have 180 degree views of the lake and competing fire places on either side to capture their attention.
